In the beginning of 2019, Barry was approached by Paul van den Broek for a collaboration between 25 artist from Barry's hometown Nijmegen. Paul wanted to recreate the world famous The Night Watch by Rembrandt as part of 2019: The Rembrandt Year. For more information, click here.

STP at Kroese

On Saturday October 7 I am going to launch my conceptual record Scratch Tick Pop - A Compilation of Scraps from 527 Ruined Vinyl Records by Barry van der Rijt at Kroese Nijmegen. For Scratch Tick Pop, I searched in collections of record owners for sounds that you just do not want on your vinyl: scratches, ticks and noises. Eventually I collected 527 fragments, which I then put back on a vinyl record, resulting in an equally fascinating and bizarre compilation. The launch is from 16h45 to 17h30 at Kroese Nijmegen. You are cordially invited to attend.

STP at Unseen

On September 23, my album "Scratch Tick Pop - A Compilation of Scraps from 527 Ruined Vinyl Records by Barry van der Rijt" comes into the world. The festive launch, including signing session, is from 15h00 to 16h00 during Unseen Amsterdam 2017 at the Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam. You are all invited!

Grind The Gap 2

After the successful pilot in 2016, Grind the Gap 2 now has started with nine graphic designers who investigate how digital developments can get a place in analog printing techniques. I am one of the artists involved. For more info click here (in Dutch only).

EXHIBITION IN NIJMEGEN

From 21st until 28th March 2017, the artist initiative WHITE SUIT PROJECTIONS in Nijmegen organized "De Week van de Autonome Kunst en Muziek / The Week of Autonomous Art and Music". My Exquisite Errors were exhibited as well.

In the context of the Dutch Design Week a Pecha Kucha Special, The DDW + Color edition, will be held at the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven. I'm one of the speakers and I'm looking forward to meeting you there.

dedication exhibited in CHINA

My film Dedication will be exhibited at Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts (AMNUA) in China.
From 21 October until 20 November 2016, AMNUA presents The One Minutes on Tour – Nanjing: Remake. In close collaboration with The One Minutes, AMNUA co-curated and designed a show that is in a sense a Chinese remake of the realm of The One Minutes.

GABRIELA CENDOYA

Gabriela Cendoya wrote an interesting article about which books should be shortlisted for the 2016 Paris Photo Aperture Foundation Photobook Awards. According to Gabriela Exquisite Errors should be on that list as well. Thank you, Gabriela.

Erik Kessels curated my work for his exposition Fabulous Failures, The Art of Embracing Serendipity and Mistakes during the world famous festival Les Rencontres d'Arles 2016 from July 4th until September 25th 2016 in Arles, France. Click here for more information about the festival.

the hague and amsterdam

In June I gave two presentations on the creation of my book Exquisite Errors. The first one was during the 20th edition of Pecha Kucha Night in The Hague. The second one was in Amsterdam, during the second exclusive Rooftop Edition. Had great fun and met nice people.
